The Bartone School of Radiography has continued it successful teaching programs through the dedicated efforts of the members of the Department of Radiology and others. Noel F. Bartone, MD, the director of radiology from 1955 to 1976, was the founder of the school. After his death, the school was dedicated in his memory. The school is part of the ever broadening educational efforts of New York Methodist Hospital to develop the professional and technical skills of men, women and members of the health care team. The recognized excellence and the perpetuation of high standards year after year are enduring tributes to the memory of Dr. Noel F. Bartone.
Mission Statement
New York Methodist Hospital’s Bartone School of Radiography has made a firm commitment to the education of students in the field of Radiography.
Our mission is the training of Radiographers who are skilled individuals, qualified by technical education, to provide services using various imaging modalities.
Goals
The Bartone School of Radiography offers a program of radiologic technology education at the certificate level. To graduate, students must have:
- Completed all didactic objectives including: passing all courses by achieving a minimum passing grade.
- Completed all clinical objectives including: clinical performance and competency, problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, communication skills, professional development and growth.
New York Methodist Hospital's Bartone School of Radiography graduates are qualified to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists National Certification Exam and New York State Department of Health licensure. The course of instruction follows the latest Standards for an Accredited Education Program in Radiologic Sciences as published by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

The New York Methodist Hospital Bartone School of Radiography has agreements in place with St. Francis College of Brooklyn, New York and Clarion University of Pennsylvania’s Online College Programs which stipulate that graduates of the Bartone School of Radiography will receive credits towards a Bachelor’s degree in radiologic or medical imaging sciences from these institutions.
