ABOUT US
New York Methodist Hospital's School of Clinical Laboratory Science, which has been in existence for over four decades, offers comprehensive training in both theory and practice. Formal academic instruction provides both a theoretical basis in various subject areas and an understanding of the medical problems which may underlie a physician's request for laboratory services. The traditional program involves a full-time, one-year commitment where students concurrently engage in both didactic and clinical educational experiences. The distance education program provides students with an opportunity to complete all didactic coursework online over the course of nine months which will culminate in an approved clinical experience. Within both programs, the student studies all fields related to the laboratory sciences, including clinical chemistry, hematology, immunology, blood bank, urinalysis and body fluids, bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, coagulation, safety, education topics, management, quality control, and patient ethics.
